Freetrain Reflective V2 review
The V2 design in a high-visibility reflective finish.
Everything that makes the V2 good, finished in reflective material that lights up in car headlights. If you run on roads before sunrise or after work in winter, this is the version to get.
Why the reflective version matters
Reflective material on your torso is seen early by drivers because it sits at headlight height and moves with you. A vest covers your chest and back, which is a much bigger reflective area than a strip on a shoe or an armband.
It's still worth adding a light — a reflective vest bounces light back, it doesn't create it. A small clip-on LED on the back strap plus this vest is a good winter combination.
Phone carry and fit
The phone pocket, flip-down screen access and strap layout are the same as the standard V2, so everything I say about fit in the V2 review applies here.
What I like
- Much more visible in headlights
- Same stable, bounce-free phone carry
- One piece of kit instead of a separate hi-vis bib
Watch out for
- No hydration
- Reflective look isn't for everyone in daylight
Verdict
For anyone running on roads in the dark for half the year, the Reflective V2 is the smarter default than the standard V2.
